This April, we celebrated the high holidays of Easter and Passover. These two special holidays commemorate the blessings of God in protecting the innocent and vulnerable, and they also celebrate victory over tremendous trauma. May is foster care awareness month, but I think the month of April gives Agape a special opportunity to recognize and thank the foster families that do hard things every day for the joy that is set before them. Foster care is about protecting the innocent and vulnerable. It’s about helping children develop resilience, and ensuring they have access to safe families and quality medical and behavioral health services that will help them overcome the traumas that brought them into care. It’s also about advocating for birth parents who are passionate about learning how to parent safely so they can be reunified with the children they love when that is possible. Fostering is not easy, but as a former foster parent, I can wholeheartedly say that the joys foster parents experience are worth the difficulties. I invite you to call Agape today so you can find out more about how we can partner with you to help vulnerable children survive and thrive in our communities.
